Case study — A civil ceremony in the mountains
Coming home to Italy, to marry in Cervara di Roma

THE CHALLENGE
An Italian couple living abroad came back to Italy for their civil ceremony. Their chosen location, the town of Cervara di Roma, can only be reached on foot up a flight of stone steps — no vehicle access at all — in a village with just a handful of residents.
THE METHOD
The wedding lunch took place a short distance away, in Campaegli, entirely outdoors in a mountain meadow. With no proper venue on site, I contacted several private homes nearby to arrange the services we needed.
In case of bad weather, two marquees stood ready: one as an operational base for the catering team, the other for the reception setup. Since the site was an active pasture, I hired two shepherds to manage any cattle that might wander through during the event. Preparation work began days before the wedding, including plumbing work to secure a water supply and earthmoving to level the ground where the structures would stand.
THE RESULT
The bad weather never came. The couple and a group of friends watched the sunset to the sound of a guitar, in a mountain meadow chosen for its unspoiled, natural feel — exactly the mood they had been looking for.
